Cleaning Session in the Twilight Zone

New short film – Cleaning Session in the Twilight Zone

Blancpain recently supported a scientific expedition around Bali, led by Unseen Expeditions in collaboration with Universitas Udayana

Despite a complicated and stressful global situation, in 2020 we were lucky to be able to do a scientific expedition in the wonderful Indonesian waters, with Unseen Expeditions and Univ Udayana. Here is the short film about this exciting project! We are now processing and analysing the huge amount of data collected during more than 260 hours cumulated dive time and dozens of hours of sampling from the boat. The objective of this video is both to show the work of the amazing multi-cultural team who joined the mission, but also to raise awareness of the beauty of underwater life, particularly the coral ecosystems of the so-called Twilight Zone. These poorly-known and not-well-studied deep habitats are however critical for marine biodiversity and for shallow coral reef resilience. A big thank you and a big well done to all the team for its amazing work, in conditions that were sometimes complicated.
And of course a big thank you to our partners Blancpain and Institut Français d'Indonésie without whom we couldn't have made this happen, as well as our technical partners who support us. I hope you will like it and that some of you might find it inspiring. Thank you to all of you who already shared, as the more people share, the more awareness we can raise!
