Sampling and Analysis of Microplastics in Waters and Sediments Training, Commemoration Series 59th Anniversary of Unud  

In the framework of the 59th Anniversary of Udayana University (Unud), the Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) of Udayana University through the Center for Remote Sensing and Ocean Science (Cresos) held training on sampling and analysis of microplastics in waters and sediments which was carried out online through Zoom platform, Monday 20 September 2021. The training activity is also part of the Merdeka Campus Competition Program which is planned to take place from 20 September to 15 October 2021 and will be attended by participants from Brawijaya University and Udayana University.


Chairman of the Center for Remote Sensing and Ocean Sciences (CReSOS) I Gede Hendrawan, Ph.D from the Faculty of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Udayana University in his report said that this activity will be held online from September 20 to September 23, 2021 and October 6, 2021. The offline event will be held from 27 September to 15 October 2021 with field activities and laboratory activities.



The Vice Chancellor for the Field represented by the Chairperson of the LPPM Udayana University, Prof. Dr. drh. I Nyoman Suarsana, M.Si reviewed the implementation of this training. The chairman of the LPPM Udayana University who on the occasion gave a speech said that the related training was very important, especially to improve the competence of lecturers and students. The Chairperson of the LPPM also expressed his gratitude and hoped that the Independent Campus Independent Learning Program (MBKM) could provide broad opportunities for the entire academic community to improve skills according to their interests and talents when going directly into the world of work.

The scope of the activity "Training on Sampling and Analysis of Microplastics in Waters and Sediments", includes the following activities:

1. Workshop related to the general introduction of microplastics, the effect of microplastics on biota, collection and analysis of microplastics in sediments and waters.

2. The practice of sampling microplastics in waters and sediments, which includes introduction to sampling equipment, technical use of sampling equipment, technical guidance in the field, etc.

3. Practice of sample analysis in the laboratory, which includes introduction to technical tools in the laboratory, practice of sample preparation, practice of sample analysis.
